On January 23, 2009, The Kansas D.A.R.E. Officers Association and the Kansas Association of School Resource Officers, Executive Boards held a meeting in Hutchinson, Kansas for the purpose of merging the two associations into the Kansas Juvenile Officers Association. The merger was proposed to KDOA and KASRO members at the Kansas School Based Policing Conference in Topeka, KS in July 2008. At the meeting on January 23, 2009, in Hutchinson, a motion was made, the motion was seconded, and a majority of the members present voted in favor of the merger and of calling the new association, The Kansas Juvenile Officers Association.
In talking with our attorney we found that there were still some i's that need to be dotted and T's that need to be crossed for the merger to take place in the eyes of the IRS. We have had to TEMPORARILY change the web site back to being owned by KASRO until all the paperwork is completed. We want to make sure this is all done correctly and that we are being good stewards with the Association. Please know that nothing has changed, and this set back is only temporary until we get the remainder of the paperwork completed. We will keep you updated.
On Thursday, June 4, 2009, The Kansas Secretary of State approved The merger between The Kansas Association of School Resource Officers and the Kansas Dare Officers Association, to form the Kansas Juvenile Officers Association. We thank the members of both associations and all who have made this merger possible.
